Welcome to the Animal Health Center in Springfield, Missouri

2009 was an eventful year for us, and 2010 promises to be even more exciting. Last year we did a complete make over of our hospital & clinic. We expanded our surgical suite, dental operating area, laboratory, and added two more examination rooms. We also greatly expanded our boarding facility, adding large kennels and twelve runs.

Our equipment also was upgraded. We added digital x-ray, which greatly enhances diagnostic capability through sharper images that can be enhanced as to contrast, lightness or darkness, rotated, switched from negative to positive images (bones go from white to black) and several other procedures. Also, the exposure to radiation is cut by almost 90% which makes it much safer for our personnel and your pet. Also, the image is available in less than ten seconds, so emergency cases can be helped much quicker.

We bought new blood chemistry and hematology analyzers which enable us to get results in 15 minutes for chemistry and 3 minutes for blood counts.

Our latest addition is a therapy laser, which is very new technology. It enables us to treat a wide variety of problems much more effectively than medication alone. It is very effective for arthritis, skin, and ear infections, slow healing wounds and non healing fractures. The laser stimulates blood flow, lymph drainage, white blood cell response, skin and bone cell regeneration and reduces swelling and pain. We have been amazed at the response of cases that were responding poorly or not at all to medical treatment.

Our dental capability has been enhanced with a new digital dental x-ray sensor. This allows for similar enhancements for dental x-rays as the large x-ray system.

Sevoflurane is a new anesthetic to the veterinary profession. We have added a sevo vaporizer to our anesthetic machine which allows us to choose the best anesthetic for your pet’s surgical procedure. Isoflurane is the one we will continue to use due to its safety and efficacy, but the sevo will allow even faster recovery time in critical cases.
